CHICAGO (November 3, 2005) –Six staff members from the Catholic Cemeteries of the Archdiocese of Chicago left Tuesday morning, November 1, for Pass Christian, MS, to help clean up the damage caused by hurricane Katrina to St. Paul Catholic Cemetery.

Under the direction of Michael Hackiewicz, director of technical services for Catholic
Cemeteries, the crew includes Randy Wisowaty, Richard Jens, Tim Konvalinka, Mike Mendez and Danny Williamson. They will be working with other cemetery volunteers from around the country whose efforts are being coordinated by the Catholic Cemetery Conference
“Our combined efforts will help St. Paul Cemetery recover from the devastating effects of the hurricane,” noted Roman Szabelski, executive director of Catholic Cemeteries. “Six homes that drifted into the cemetery must be dismantled and removed. In addition, fallen trees need to be removed and several monuments reset.”
