THEOLOGY-ON-TAP 2009 BEGINS JULY 12
Summer Speaker Program for Young Adults Celebrates 29th Year
Chicago, IL (June 29, 2009) – Theology-on-Tap, a speaker and conversation series for people in their 20s and 30s, is being hosted at 41 locations throughout the Archdiocese of Chicago in English, Spanish, and Polish. Beginning its twenty-ninth year on Sunday, July 12, the program continues to provide the opportunity for young adults, both married and single, to learn more about the Catholic faith, make connections between faith and everyday life, and enter into discussions with their peers.
This four-week, summer program offered Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, includes a speaker, conversation and theology, and provides parishes and Catholic Student Centers in the Archdiocese the opportunity to make young adults feel welcome.
There are a number of different ways to participate in Theology-on-Tap, including by location, topic or selected speaker. Participants can choose one location near their home or work and attend all four sessions at that location, or they are welcome to choose from among the many topics and attend any site where the topic is being addressed.
On Sunday, August 9, Theology-on-Tap will conclude with a Mass celebrated by Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I., Archbishop of Chicago, at Madonna della Strada Chapel, located on the Lake Shore Campus of Loyola University. The Mass will be followed by a picnic with music, food and dancing at Halas Field, directly across from the chapel.
Theology-on-Tap began in the Archdiocese of Chicago in 1981 and has been hosted by 400 different local parishes with more than 350 speakers having addressed over 33,000 young adults during these summer sessions. The Diocese of Joliet joined them for the first time during the summer of 1994, the Diocese of Rockford in 1998, the Diocese of Gary, Indiana in 2000, and in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 2001.
Theology-on-Tap is sponsored by the Young Adult Ministry Office of the Archdiocese of Chicago. For details on speakers, topics, locations and the closing picnic on Sunday, August 9, visit www.yamchicago.org or call the Young Adult Ministry Office at 312-466-9473.
